Media Stage at the Stanley Cup Championship!
The Florida Panthers have done it! For the first time in the team’s 30-year history as a franchise, they have hoisted Lord Stanley after besting the Edmonton Oilers in an exhilarating 7-game series. Media Stage was excited to be back on site not only for the Final, but also for the entire run of the postseason which spanned more than two full months.
For the second consecutive year, we provided lighting fixtures in the players tunnel from which they come out onto the ice during intros. We built truss structures to line the tunnel affixed with a wide array of stationary and moving lights, enhanced by multiple haze machines. This was consistent through all four rounds, though we added even more for the final series.
And now we get to the good stuff: the Stanley Cup Final. For both potential home games with Cup-clinching scenarios (Games 5 & 7) we built three different LED walls for the trophy presentation. Our lighting technicians also placed titan tubes all throughout a makeshift tunnel provided by the league from which the Cup would be brought out onto the ice. Though we rehearsed this for Game 5, as fate would have it, it didn’t happen until Game 7…
Game 7 also brought in Grammy-winning recording artist Alannis Morissette to sing both the Canadian and American national anthems. We provided in-ear monitors for her in addition to a small teleprompting system placed on the ice near the red carpet during the pregame show.
We’d like to extend a special ‘Thank You’ to Dennis Docil and Mike Masino! The Florida Panthers have been such a wonderful client of Media Stage for seven years now, and much of our crew has been involved with the team in other capacities for even longer. It goes without saying this was truly an unbelievable experience for everyone involved, and we couldn’t be happier that we can finally say: STANLEY CUP CHAMPIONS!!!
