Media Stage closes out February with celebration of Black “Her”story

A future where justice… just is. That was the powerful theme of Media Stage’s most recent production in conjunction with YWCA. We recorded and produced “State of the Union for Black Women” last week featuring a prominent panel of female leaders.

Alejandra Castillo, CEO of YWCA USA, hosted the event from our onsite studio and featured the following remote presenters: Condace Pressley (who flawlessly moderated the panel discussion), Melanie Campbell, Aba Blankson, Gaylynn Burroughs, Latifa Lyles and Dr. Cynthia Lubin Langtiw.

We took the incoming feeds of each of the ladies and framed them together for portions of the conversation and switched back and forth between two-boxes and individual camera shots appropriately as it played out live. The host platform on which attendees viewed the event featured themed imagery and YWCA branding to showcase the topic of Black “Her”story.

The livestream covered timely topics such as maternal health for African Americans, COVID relief within the community, minimum wage, criminal justice reform and much more. Most notably, Congressmember Karen Bass served as the event’s keynote speaker and delivered a powerful address about the resiliency of black women.

We also utilized playback for certain segments of the show, mixing in pre-recorded videos of testimonies to complement the remarks of the live panel. The hour-long show left an impactful impression on all those who attended. The purpose of the event was to empower women, especially those working tirelessly to eliminate racism, and we can confidently say it did just that!
