Media Stage produces 3rd Annual Broward Mental Health Summit

Media Stage Control room

In partnership with the Sheriff’s Foundation of Broward County, Media Stage provided the technical execution for the Broward Mental Health Summit which aired on September 10th. This annual event was previously held in person, always in September in observance of National Suicide Prevention Awareness Month. Due to Covid-19, this was the first year the event had to transition to fully virtual.

The online summit was a private event for which the planning committee sold tickets ahead of time, so all attendees were e-mailed an invite link to enter on the morning of show day. The show started with an opening ceremony which highlighted prominent members of the committee, presenting sponsors and art contest award winners. This portion of the show was pre-recorded at Media Stage’s onsite studio with a full camera crew and additional teleprompting, audio, lighting and video support from the adjacent control room.

After the opening ceremony, attendees were free to choose from one of the concurrent sessions during each scheduled block (just as one would during an in-person conference with multiple breakout rooms per time slot). The sessions focused on relevant and extremely timely topics such as mental wellness, financial wellness, loneliness and isolation, suicide prevention and warning signs, among many others.

There were 20 sessions in total, split amongst the time slots throughout the day. The biggest advantage to hosting this event virtually was that the sessions were all made available “on demand” for 14 days after the live show day, so that attendees could go back and watch whichever sessions they wanted to from the convenience of their home or office.

This was the second show Media Stage has produced in conjunction with the Sheriff’s Foundation of Broward County. We are always proud to support them in their continued community outreach!
