Play ball!

That’s a wrap from Clearwater, FL! We partnered with the Philadelphia Phillies to build the lighting rig for their Media Day set to capture gladiator shots of the players for content to use in the upcoming season.

We traveled across the state for a full load-in/set day and two shoot days. The set was built at their Spring Training facility, BayCare Ballpark, underneath the bleachers on the ground. The surface was covered in dirt, so we dressed the area to disguise it and make it less noticeable in the frame.

Our lighting technicians built an arch-like truss structure onto which we affixed our full complement of movers. We positioned a combo of 11 Mac Auras and 11 Mac Quantums along with several other moving wash fixtures, programmed by the Flying Pig Road Hog console.

The players came onto the set one by one for their camera shots that will be used on the in-house video board at Citizens Bank Park as well on the team’s local TV broadcasts. The roster players weren’t the only ones on set… the Phillie Phanatic even made an appearance on our final shoot day!

This was our first year teaming up with the Phillies and we’re looking forward to future opportunities with the club. A big thanks to Sean Reiney and David Cattai for embarking on this new partnership with us!
