The Exchange goes “Beyond” in Orlando

For the fourth consecutive year in partnership with EGR International, the Media Stage crew produced full scale AV for Vision Source: The Exchange 2024 at the Gaylord Palms Resort & Convention Center in Central Florida. The theme of this year’s event was “Go Beyond,” so many of the creative aspects that were brought to life were of a galactic and celestial feel.

Our set incorporated a center rear projection screen behind a custom-built stage with two flats covered in white cyc flanking the stage. We projection mapped onto these side boards using double-stacked 4K 22,000-lumen projectors that we flew in addition to a delay screen for the back half of the house. Our team had one day of load-in and pre-rig before we even began our full set days in order to get all truss structures built from working height before we got everything in the air. An additional two days of set-up and one full day of scheduled on-stage rehearsals followed.

Also on the rig was a full line array sound system and a robust complement of moving lights that showcased several different looks throughout the show. As has always been the case, the run of show featured varying vendor presentations that often call for specific lighting cues.

P.D. The Parrot was back as the animatronic emcee for the event whose banter (some scripted, some not) with Vision Source leadership is always a crowd pleaser! The leadership and vendor presentations consisted of pre-produced video rolls, graphics presentations and an enjoyable array of live skits and performances.

On each of our three show days, the opening act showcased an acrobatic performance to kick things off. The performer had a different choreographed routine each morning using our projection screen as the “moving” video wall behind her. With the use of different stage props, her movements were synced to the video to again highlight the out-of-this-world feel of the conference theme.

With this being our fourth year working on this show, it has really been a wonderful experience to continue to build on and grow from each prior experience. With each year comes a new venue, a new theme and new content so our crew has enjoyed being able to evolve on this production with trusted partners. Thank you to the whole team for the opportunity!
