Top Gun Takes over the Ballroom
Another one in the books from Orlando! Earlier this summer, our crew was back in Central Florida at the Signia by Hilton Orlando Bonnet Creek to produce AV for a multi-day corporate show. It was a fun set to design while incorporating the client’s Top Gun theme throughout the conference, which we were able to bring to life within the Waterside Ballroom.
The stage set was centered by a 45’ x 15’ dual surface screen onto which we rear projected using short throw lenses from scaffolding backstage, in addition to two 7’6” x 13’4” screens on each side. We had a multi-camera complement for the General Session for both IMAG and program records and downstage monitors and a speaker timer for presenter support.
With as many video pre-sets and outputs that this run of show required, we used an Analog Way Ascender Switcher to seamlessly execute each cue.
Effect lighting was a major emphasis on this event, as we brought in a robust complement of movers, stage wash fixtures and up-lights to really enhance the reds and the blacks of the Top Gun feel. This, along with our full-scale PA system, was all flown in conjunction with the in-house rigging team.
One of the more unique aspects of this show is that the client brings in a vehicle to showcase at the side of the stage along with a full dance floor and several other scenic/décor enhancements throughout the room. Our crew had to keep this in mind when planning our load-in and strike logistics.
We are headed to the west coast of the state at the end of this month, so keep an eye out for all those behind-the-scenes details!
